About Us

Fresno Dance Collective (also known as “NOCO”) was established by Amy Querin (now Gallegos) in 2006 as

Fresno’s professional contemporary dance company, eventually expanding into aerial arts. After 8 years of inactivity, new Executive Director Sine Chan-Golston has reestablished NOCO as an active, tax-exempt 501(c)3 with new programming initiatives serving dancers and other local artists in Fresno, CA.

The following Mission and Vision for NOCO reflect the organization’s new purpose and programming goals:

Our Mission

To serve the dancers and local arts community of Fresno, CA by developing programming that fosters personal artistic growth, promotes community collaboration, and creates accessible performing opportunities.

Our Vision

Our administrative-based approach to programming will pave the way for future artistic development in Central California through providing dance artists, performers, and community members with the resources to support their craft. By promoting creative collaboration and resource sharing, NOCO’s efforts promote an accessible environment for artists of all backgrounds to experience movement exploration and grow their creative practice.

Our Values

Community

In an effort to enrich the local dance culture, NOCO is not affiliated with any specific dance company, dance school, or type of dance. Our goal is to intentionally support as many aspects of the community as possible through fiscal donations, use of practical resources, and publicity. We strive for impartiality driven by a love of movement and people.

Heading 6
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

NOCO believes that dance belongs to everyone.

We strive to create dance opportunities that celebrate and are available to

all types of peoples and abilities.

Real Art

In pursuit of lifting up real art created by real artists, NOCO stands against the use of generative AI within our organization and with our collaborators.

Land Acknowledgement

Fresno Dance Collective would like to intentionally acknowledge the City of Fresno's place in the San Joaquin Valley, the ancestral land of the Yokuts and Mono tribes. We honor the lives and cultures of both those before us, as well as those who contribute to and reside in part of the Central Valley's diverse community.
